|Description:||Meridian Charter Township is seeking a highly energetic, organized, and self-motivated individual to serve as the Communications Assistant/Marketing Coordinator for the Communications Department serving Okemos, Haslett, and some East Lansing Residents.|
Position is currently 29 hours per week.
Under the direct supervision of the Communications Director, the Communications Assistant/Marketing Coordinator will manage areas of Marketing - including branding, internal/external communications, social media, and more.

|Duties:||Work with department staff on new communication methods to distribute information, utilize communication skills for township projects, and assist with creating promotional campaigns and branding of the township. This position serves as the social media manager and social media marketer. This position assists with the integrated marketing plans with measurable results for the HOMTV internship program, event attendance, website traffic, engagement, and awareness. |

|Qualifications:||The Communications Assistant/Marketing Coordinator must be highly skilled in all aspects of campaign marketing, branding, social media management, and social video marketing. The Communications Assistant/Marketing Coordinator must possess the ability to work with a diverse group of people with good communication, organizational, and writing skills. A strong working hands-on experience and skill using social sharing sites and digital newsletters is required. The Communications Assistant/Marketing Coordinator will be responsible for overseeing media sponsorship opportunities as well as marketing the HOMTV/Social Media track internships. A strong understanding of the principles of marketing and ability to develop and execute marketing plans. Proven ability to project schedule/manage/lead is also required. Must be able to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines working autonomously or with the team. |
A Bachelorís degree in communications, marketing, journalism, or a related field. 3+ years working in communications, marketing, journalism, social media, or a related field. Must have social media management experience.
A State of Michigan Vehicle Operatorís License.
Thorough knowledge of communication methods and techniques.
Thorough knowledge of traditional marketing techniques.
Skill in responding to public inquiries and internal requests with a high degree of diplomacy and professionalism.
Skill in assembling and analyzing data and preparing comprehensive and accurate reports.
Skill in the use of office equipment and technology, including computers and specialized production equipment and software, and the ability to master new technologies.
Ability to critically assess situations, solve problems, and work effectively under stress within deadlines and changing work priorities.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with citizens, news media, community groups, Township officials, employees, and other interests.
Keep abreast of technology and developments in the field through continued education and professional growth. Attend conferences, workshops, and seminars as appropriate.
Ability to effectively train, lead, and motivate employees; supervise and evaluate the work of others.
Ability to work at other than regular business hours.
